Win
Definition: A horse that finishes the race in the first position
Place
Definition: A horse that finishes the race in any of the first three (3) or four (4) positions, depending on the number of horses running in a race. The bet can be taken in all the races that are carded in a meeting.
Purpose: Select a horse to finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th
Places:
5 or less runners: No place betting
6-7 runners: 2 places
8-15 runners: 3 places
16 or more runners: 4 places
The purpose is to select a horse placed first, second, third or fourth in a specified race. Unit of betting: R1.00
Minimum betting amount allowed: R6.00 (6 x R1.00 units) Dividend will pay six (6) times
EACHWAY / WIN AND PLACE
Definition: A horse that either wins the race or finishes second, third or fourth depending on the number of horses in the race (two bets in one)
Purpose: Select a horse to finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th
Places:
5 or less runners: No place betting 6-7 runners: 2 places
8-15 runners: 3 places
16 or more runners: 4 places
N.B. i) A horse that wins the race pays both a Win and a place dividend

SWINGER
Definition: A combination of two (2) horses that finish the race in the first three (3) positions in any order of selection
Purpose: Select two horses each to finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd
Race in which bet is taken: All races. With 6 or more runners. 4-5 runners only one swinger. Unit of betting: R1.00

Different types of Swinger:
Single: Two (2) horses selected to finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
Multiple: One (1) horse selected to finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd with others occupying any or both of the two remaining positions

Definition: A combination of two (2) horses that finish the race in the first two (2) positions in any order of the selection. Horses can finish 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 1st.

Multiple: One (1) or more horse/s selected in any of first two positions to make up different combinations of two runners to finish 1st and 2nd
Box: Two (2) or more horses selected to make up different combinations of two (2) runners to finish 1st and 2nd
ALL-TO-COME (PARLAY)
PURPOSE: To select a horse to either win or run a place in a minimum of 2, maximum of six random races. The pool type must be the same.
The bet can be taken at any South African Race meeting or selected International Venues. Unit of betting : R1.00
Minimum betting amount allowed: R6.@ (6 x R1.00 units) Dividend will pay six (6) times
RESULTS & DIVIDENDS
All the selected legs of the All-To-Come bet must have run before the dividend is paid. All the selections in all the races must be winners for a bet to be paid.
NB: In the event the winning on the bet exceeding R15, 000.00, the R15, 000.00 is reinvested into the next race and the difference is put aside as a guaranteed dividend.
TRIFECTA
Definition: A selection of three (3) horses to finish the race in the first three (3) positions.
Purpose: Select three (3) horses to finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Unit of betting: R1.00
Minimum betting amount allowed: R6.00 (6 x R1.00 units) Dividend will pay six (6) times

Very important rule: ‘First time Runner’
FIRST TIMER RULE: If a horse that has not raced before wins a leg of the Pick 6 the first horse to finish of those in the race that have raced before, shall also qualify as a winner in the Pick 6 except in instances where the pool is offered on race meetings held outside the Republic of South Africa, in which case this first timer Rule shall not apply, e.g. Mauritius.
BIPOT
It is a selection of one horse to come first or second from six consecutive races that designated as Bipot
Different Types of Bipot
Single/straight: One horse is selected to finish in one the first two places.
Multiple/perm: One or more horses to run first or second place in any of six legs.
PLACE ACCUMULATOR
Definition: A selection of 1 horse each selected from seven (7) consecutive races designated as P/A races. Each horse must finish the race in any of the first three positions. The number of horses per leg, can be increased to any preferred number as per punters discretion.
Purpose: Select 1 horse to finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd in each race.
Bet available: Specified seven (7) consecutive races Unit of betting.
Unit of betting: R1.00
Minimum betting amount allowed: R6.00 (6 x R1.00 units) Dividend will pay six (6) times
Different Types of Place Accumulator
Single One (1) horse selected to finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd in each of the seven (7) legs of the Place Accumulator

JACKPOT QUICK MIX
It is a combination of different meetings (Saftote indicates the meetings and races that forms part of the bet). When the first leg of the Jackpot Quick mix is cancelled/abandoned, there will be no betting.
If the second or any leg (accept leg 1) of the Jackpot quick mix is cancelled it will be declared as a field.

Pick 6
MUST WIN PICK 6 only offered on 05 and 26 March 2016 meetings:
1.1. PURPOSE: The purpose of the Pick 6 is to select the winners of each of the legs constituting the Pick 6, as designated in the official race card. The legs of the Pick 6 shall be the last 6 races carded for designated meetings held at Meydan racecourse.
1.2. UNIT OF BETTING AND MINIMUM BET: The unit of betting shall be ZAR1 and the minimum unit ZAR6.
1.3. BRACKETING OF HORSES: The bracketing of horses shall not apply to the Pick 6 pool.
1.4. RESERVE RUNNER: The carded number of any Reserve runner replacing a scratched horse remains unaltered and consequently field selections should include all horses carded. Rule 1.5 applies to scratching's.
1.5. SCRATCHINGS:
1.5.1. If any horse is scratched from any leg the holder of any ticket on which such horse has been selected, shall be deemed to have selected the totalizator favorite in such leg.
1.5.2. No refunds shall be given in respect of scratched horses.
1.5.3. In the event of joint totalizator favorites being declared in a particular race, a scratched horse to be substituted by the totalizator favorite in terms of Rule 1.5.1 shall be substituted with the joint totalizator favorite, which is highest placed in the order of finishing of that race.
1.5.4. In the event of joint totalizator favorites dead heating for first place, a scratched horse to be substituted in terms of Rule 1.5.1 shall be substituted with the joint totalizator favorite bearing the lower race card number.
1.6. CALCULATION OF DIVIDEND:
1.6.1. The dividend shall be determined by dividing the net pool by the total number of unit bets on the winning combination. The net pool shall be divided in a major share (70%) and a minor share (30%) portion.
1.6.2. The major share of the net Pick 6 pool shall be distributed to the ticket holders that selected the first-place finisher in each of the 6 legs, based upon the official order of finish, and the minor share of the net Pick 6 pool shall be distributed to ticket holders whose selection finished first in the second greatest number of Pick 6 races.
1.6.2. If there are no wagers selecting the first-place finisher in each of the Pick 6 legs, then both the major and minor shares will be combined and shall be distributed to ticket holders whose selection finished first in the greatest number of Pick 6 races.
1.7. ABANDONED OR CANCELLED LEGS: If, for any reason whatsoever, a Pick 6 race is abandoned or cancelled, all selections in any abandoned or canceled legs shall be deemed to be winning selections.
1.8. REFUNDS: No refunds shall be made in respect of any Pick 6 ticket, except in instances where a race meeting is cancelled or abandoned before the first leg of the Pick 6 pool.
1.9 DEAD HEAT: In the event of a dead heat between two or more horses in any leg for the first place in the pick 6 pool all horses in the dead heat for first place shall be considered winning horses to calculate the pool.
1.10. CARRY FORWARD: In the event of there being no ticket on any of the winning combinations, the net pool shall be carried forward and added to a net Piek 6 pool selected at the sole discretion of Operator Management, provided that such carry forward is made within one month of the original pool.
1.11. OFFICIAL RESULTS: The result of a race shall be official when they are declared as such in terms of these rules, that is when the All Clear is declared by the racetrack and the "Official result" is announced by the Operator.
